Help with what comes next.

Just had a diagnosis, or worried about someone's memory? Our plain-English guides explain what dementia is, what help you're entitled to, and how to plan ahead.

After a diagnosis

Three things worth doing first

  1. Step 1: Talk to us

Call us for a friendly chat about what's happening and what would help. You don't need a formal diagnosis.

  2. Step 2: Check your money

Most people with dementia can claim at least one benefit, and Council Tax may be reduced. Our Benefits and Finances guide explains how.

  3. Step 3: Plan ahead

Set up Lasting Power of Attorney while you can. Our Planning for the Future guide walks you through it.

Good to know

Your questions, answered

Do I need a diagnosis to get help from you?
No. If you, or someone you love, has been affected by memory problems, please get in touch. There is no wrong time to reach out.
I'm worried about someone's memory. What should I do?
Make an appointment with their GP, and go with them if you can. Writing down the changes you've noticed, and when they started, makes the conversation much easier. Our Understanding Dementia guide lists the signs to look out for.
Can you help me fill in benefit forms?
Yes. We can sit with you and go through them together. Citizens Advice, Age UK and Suffolk Family Carers also offer free help with forms.

Not sure where to start? Let's talk.

We're a local charity, and we've been where you are. Call us for a friendly chat about what would help.
